Confessions of a Peace Lover…

Somehow November has melted into December…it seems to be how this year has gone, we celebrate the arrival of one month and blink…and it is time to turn the calendar page again.

It’s been a good year, not a perfect year (is there any such thing?) but a good year even amidst some tears. I confess it seems strange that Mom is gone this Christmas, and yet in so many ways Alzheimer Disease took her from us many years ago.

Confession of a Peace Lover…

Last week’s word was JOY. This week’s word is PEACE. It’s a word that I have a special fondness of, a feeling I enjoy, a promise I depend on. We hear a lot of this word this time of year as it is part of the Christmas story found in Luke 2.

Jesus liked the word PEACE too – I guess it shouldn’t surprise us since Isaiah 9:6 told us He would be the “Prince of Peace”. In the Sermon on the Mount recorded in Matthew 5:9,

Confessions of a Peace Lover…

Yesterday marked the 15th anniversary of my dad leaving this earth and entering Heaven. I remember that day and the days that followed very well. It was a time of smiling through tears. Our family was so thankful that Dad’s earthly pain had passed and yet so sad that the man who never knew a stranger would no longer be in our midst.

This past week we thought we might be walking that bitter-sweet path once more. The call came that our mom had not been responsive throughout the night,
