In the 22nd chapter of Genesis, Abraham proclaims the faithfulness of God to provide by calling Him;    Jehovah-Jireh (Gen. 22:14):   a Hebrew name that literally means; The Lord will see to it.  We would say The One Who provides.

A Love Like This

I wanted so badly to write a really upbeat, encouraging post this week. You know, something about how the sun is shining and the leaves are turning colors and God’s awesome love and all that. But I need to be real, sisters: I just don’t have it in me.

Pieces of My Heart

Mosaic

I’ve always loved the beauty of mosaic art. There is something so powerful to me about looking at a beautiful work of art made from thousands of broken pieces. Each part represents something that was originally destroyed. Part of what was once whole, now fragmented, fractured, scattered; then re-gathered into something wonderful that previously didn’t exist in the world. This to me is how I believe God sees every human heart.

God's Words, Our Cover Crop

A week ago I meandered through my freshly tilled garden with an eight-pound bag of rye seed resting on my hip.  I scooped handfuls of the seed and sifted it through my hands watching it drop into the soft, dark earth.

This was my first attempt to plant a cover crop for winter. I had no idea how beneficial a cover crop could be for your soil, particularly rye:

It grows quickly, with deep roots that keep soil loose and prevent it from compacting over the winter.
