For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4
I love trying new recipes. Baking up a batch of cookies, brownies or trying a new one dish meal is something I look forward to doing quite frequently.
Cooking magazines, on-line cooking sites, cookbooks, and even murder mystery books contain recipes of all kinds. Hundreds at my fingertips, waiting to be selected, made and tried by me for my family to enjoy.
Once I have chosen a recipe, I carefully follow the instructions to create it, and wait for it to bake. Eagerly I gather the utensils needed for us to enjoy the delightful eating experience. The timer goes off and the new dish is carefully taken out of the oven. Aw, the smell fills the house and everyone joyfully dines.
Great recipes for my life and yours can be found in God’s Holy word. Scriptures of hope, healing, restoration, love, grace and salvation are just a few.
Just like a recipe for baking, God’s word of instruction is very similar. We read God’s word of eternal hope each day allowing it to penetrate our hearts. Patiently yet eagerly we wait and trust God for the results, and before you know it, the joy of the Lord has arrived.
Recipe books and cooking sites are a dime a dozen but there is only one recipe book that brings true hope worth living for.
Tired of living a life with little hope? Try God’s recipe book of eternal hope. Read it, believe it and live it each day.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your Holy word, the Bible. As I live by your word today, allow it to penetrate my heart and encourage my hope in you. In Jesus Name, Amen!
