Children of Light

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.   Psalm 199: 130

As a child, do you remember playing the game, Chinese Whispers or known as the telephone game?  One child whispers a phase to a child sitting beside them. The child repeats and whispers the phrase to the next child and so on until the last child verbally reveals to everyone what they heard.  Of course the phrase the first child whispered and the reveal of what the last child heard is nothing like the phrase first told in the beginning.

Secrets are much like this game we played as children.  Satan whispers into each of our ears dark lies that are untrue.  We repeat those lies out loud to ourselves or to a friend resulting in us living in bondage to the lies we believe to be true.  Friendships and relationships with others not to mention our own self worth is in jeopardy simply for listening to the secrets of untruths from the angel of darkness himself.

Yet God and his word are about each of us living in freedom, truth and light.  Opening God’s holy word and reading it allows each of us to see firsthand God is truth.  Secrets, whispers and lies told to us in darkness are revealed in the true light of his word.  There is no misunderstanding.  Just simple straight forward, loving, life giving words transforming each of our thoughts, hearts and minds.

Have you been playing the telephone game with Satan lately?  Listening to the lies of darkness instead of God’s word of truth?  Then take the time to compare Satan’s words against God’s holy word itself.  Allow God’s word to be a lamp to your feet and a light for your path (Psalm 119:105) as you listen to the Spirit of truth (John 16:13).

As a child of God there is no need for child like games when it comes to having a truthful relationship with Christ.  Skip the whispers, secrets and lies and go directly to God’s word each day for a fresh new word worth repeating to yourself and to others out loud.  Believe it, live it and love it child of the living God.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your word of truth that gives light.  Place within me a desire to read your living word each day.   In Jesus Name, Amen!
